Teide National Park is a lunar landscape of lava, badlands and rock spires above 2,000 m, with the highest peak in Spain presiding over it all. Doing it by buggy or quad turns the journey into part of the adventure: you climb mountain roads with stops at the great viewpoints.
Buggy: for couples or with children
The buggy is a two- or four-seat off-road cart: you drive it, no experience needed, and passengers can come along. It's the comfortable choice for couples and families who want the thrill without giving up sharing the ride.

The quad is ridden solo (or two per machine) and gives a more direct feel of the terrain. It requires a driving licence and a willingness to get a little dusty; in return, it's some of the most fun you can have in the mountains.

- Las Cañadas del Teide: the huge volcanic caldera surrounding the peak.
- Roques de García: the most photographed rock spires in the park.
- Ucanca plain: a pale-sand flat with Teide behind it, one of the great viewpoints.
At sunset
Some trips are timed for late in the day to catch the golden light on the lava and, if the sky cooperates, the start of one of the best starry skies in the world (Teide is a Starlight Reserve).

If you'd rather have the view without driving, there's always the cable car; but to experience Las Cañadas up close, few things beat an engine among the lava.
